Social farming and new welfare for the rural development

The  13th September 2014 in Penne, WWF has hosted a workshop organized by the National Rural Network, entitled: "Social farming and new welfare for the rural development".

The social farming is thought to be one of the most innovative tool able to harmonize the needs for a renewal of the Italian welfare and the need to enhance a modern and a multi-functional agriculture, which is expected in the next programming period (2014-2020), with measures for the inclusion and the social sustainability. Therefore, the social farming could assume an important role in the RDPs, which can support and enhance the different realities carrying out activities such as those of socio-working inclusion and co-therapy, as well as services for disadvantaged people by using the resources of the agriculture.

In the latest years, many initiatives have been carried out at local and regional level, which should be much more pointed out in this programming phase, in order to provide meetings and occasions to the different institutional and no institutional stakeholders, to deepen the issue. This workshop aims to provide the opportunity to strengthen the capability of the different Councillorships and of the stakeholders in order to program their activities and manage the measures about the social farming, in an informed and coordinated way.
