International Workshop on "ShareWaterSaveWater. Cooperate for a new water culture".

The General Assembly of the United Nations in 1993 declared the 22nd of March as World Water Day, in order to increase knowledge and awareness on the problems connected to warter resources and at the same time to strengthen the consciousness on the sustainable management of water resources.

Every year the Day is celebrated with local, national and international initiatives on one or more topics related to water, according to the goals indicated by UNESCO. This year the Day is dedicated to International Water Cooperation (Water cooperation, resolution A/RES/65/154).
Considering the importance that the Water Day has reached and given the expertise of the Italian Institute of Agricultural Economics in the field of water resources for agriculture, it is considered worthwhile to participate at the planned initiatives, through the organization of a workshop on the interesting and innovative theme of water cooperation.

The workshop aims to address more specifically some issues of great interest such as the optimization of water management, especially in areas with water scarcity and the reuse of wastewater for irrigation, in order to increase water productivity and water saving and strengthen the adaptation of agriculture to climate change.

Starting from the awareness that a rational and sustainable use of water resources can be achieved only as a result of a shared cultural change, the workshop aims to involve public opinion in the debate and in particular the new generations through the use of social networks.
This workshop is under the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, the Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Roma Capitale, the Italian Geographical Society Onlus and the University Federico II of Napoli.
