On the occasion of the Conference, where was presented the Strategic Plan for innovation and research in the agricultural, food and forestry, which was held on July 10 in Rome was distributed the INEA report "The agricultural research system in Italy and the dynamics of innovation process" in which premise, the Minister of Agriculture Martina highlighted the strong interest of MIPAAF on the topic and the need for the Italian agricultural sector to be able to combine tradition and innovation.

The production of knowledge and its adoption in agricultural practice is recognized as a central theme in the development process. For this reason, policies - and in particular the EU policies- give a new force on that theme through concrete tools and resources devoted to knowledge and innovation.

The INEA volume intends to deepen the topic, with the aim to contributing to the ongoing debate at the national level, and to support the effects of decisions that policy makers are preparing to take on the basis current confrontation.

It is therefore a useful annotated map of the institutions and policies, but also an analysis of innovative experiences substantial shape in some business contexts and territorial (best practices) and a deepening of the most innovative areas of innovation, such as bio-economy, diversification and the provision of public goods by the agriculture and rural sector (farming, agri-energy, climate change, social farming)
