FAMILY FARMING. A resource for food security and social cohesion
On 11 July 2014, was be held in Rome, at the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS (INEA), Via Nomentana n. 41, a Seminar organized within the project "Promotion of Farm Culture" titled: FAMILY AGRICULTURE. A resource for food security and social cohesion.
More than 500 million farms in the world are heading by families. The presence of these kind of companies is not only relevant in developing countries, but is also a key feature of European farms. The United Nations named the 2014 the International Year of Family Agriculture just to emphasize the enormous potential of farmers at the domestic level to improve food security and conserve natural resources.
INEA intends to open the debate on these issues by proposing contributions that are coming from different sectors and backgrounds. The goal is to confront the issues by identifying possible areas of study and future collaboration.
