The sustainable management of productive factors in agriculture: the FATIMA project

On the 26th and 27th of  May, was held in Rome at the head office CRA-INEA and Tarquinia in the buildings of Reclamation Consortium, the 1st Regional Meeting of the "FATIMA"  project  (Farming Tools for external nutrient inputs and water MAnagement).

The "FATIMA"  project, funded under the European Framework Programme for the Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020) in response to the call "Sustainable Food Security (H2020-SFS-2014-2);  Topic: External nutrient inputs (02a SFS- -2014);  Type of Action: Research and innovation actions (rIA) "], has as its overall aim to identify innovative business counseling, capable of help and optimize the management and the use of productive factors (especially nutrients, water and energy) in intensive farming systems, with the perspective of combining sustainable farm production with a fair economic competitiveness.

In this meeting was submitted the research project that CRA will continue with the  Drainage Consortium "Maremma Etrusca" and other users and operators of local natural resources. 

The aim was to involve local communities to trace a road in order to develop agro-environmental, economic and social strategies, which can help the stakeholders to improve land management, policies and technical infrastructure for a sustainable 'agriculture. The project consists of a broad international partnership, and from 23 public and private institutions.

The study and analysis will be carried out in eight test areas that also represent the eight case studies divided between Spain, Italy, Greece, Austria, Czech Republic, Holland, France and Turkey. The pilot area for the  project FATIMA in Italy will be the Plain of Tarquinia.
