Lo stato del mercato forestale del carbonio In Italia 2013
The report "State of the Italian Forest Carbon Market 2013" presents the analysis of the voluntary carbon credits generated by forest projects carried out in Italy or carried out by Italian organizations abroad. The survey, leaded by the "Nucleo Monitoraggio Carbonio" of Inea, involved 12 Italian organizations.
The results shows a 2012 transacted volume of 144.515 tCO2eq, a value far below the 2011 transacted volume of 244.181 tCO2. The 2012 drop in transacted volume is partially connected to the fewer participants number on this year survey.
Among the actors involved in the survey, eight of them belong to the category of project developers, one works as broker and the other three belong to the category "structured" market.
The prices derived from the valuation vary among a minimum of 2,55 to a maximum of 67 €/tCO2eq. The average price of forest carbon credits in Italy is of 7 €/tCO2eq, while the overal transacted value for 2012 is of 1.01 M€, a value far below the 2011 peak of 2.2 M€. The more frequent project typology consists in afforestations/reforestations projects with native species. The no profit category is the most common type of organization involved in the projects development.
