Despite the increasing number of food businesses have already been dealing with CSR and its tools, most of the time there is no underlying strategic orientation, but spot actions detached by the company's vision. The INEA working group has set two objectives: on the one hand, assisting companies to find a path of CSR reflecting the space-time context in which they operate. On the other hand, offering a tool for all the intermediary stakeholders (e.g. chambers of commerce, professional organizations and producers, LAGs, local authorities, etc.) who want to raise awareness and assist local companies in the process of implementation of socially responsible behaviors. In this regard, the self-diagnosis grid* provides a starting point to begin this experience. The matrix below, in fact, is based on a modular and gradual approach, taking into consideration the behaviors the company puts in place individually and the dynamics of the system in which the former is involved.
To find your place in the grid, just answer a questionnaire whose purpose is twofold:
• to photograph the hidden part of social responsibility (e.g. non formalized good practices), which represents a highly distinctive feature of the Italian food system;
• to identify the operational steps that individual companies can take to improve their orientation towards social responsibility according to the logic of "gradualism", considering their starting level.
After completing the questionnaire, you can access to some good practices identified by the INEA working group.
