This area of studies on enterprises follows the evolution of knowledge within the agricultural sector of the economy and covers a variety of topics in economics and agricultural policy, primarily the analysis of the relationship between changes in agricultural policies, and the impacts on economic adjustments of businesses.
In recent years the area has mainly focused on the activities of processing, development and dissemination of FADN data, producing reports and publications on the situation of Italian and regional based primarily on RICA data.
Recently there have been some analysis and related research and technical assistance in production costs.
The area also take care of all the activities of designing, maintaining and updating the software GAIA, both for the collection of data regarding the RICA at the farm level and also in terms of its use as a tool to support the farm's management .
In the future studies will be focused on the studies of the enterprises, the following topics will be furthermore investigated:

• Generational turnover and restructuring of the agricultural system
• The bargaining power of agricultural businesses within the agri-food chain
• The corporate social responsibility of agricultural enterprises
• The business management of agricultural enterprises.
